Who can join: Youth membership of the Beaver Colony is open to boys and girls aged 6 to 8.

Meetings:
The Beaver Colony meets on Monday Evenings in 'term time' at the Weir View Scout HQ. Contact us at seascouts@sky.com for full details.

It is important that your son / daughter arrives in good time to start the meeting in order that the activities planned for the evening can proceed as intended.

Uniform: Beaver Scout uniform consists of : 14th Tonbridge Scarf (Light Blue), Beaver Sweatshirt (and / or Polo Shirt), Dark Trousers (Not jeans), Black Socks, Black Shoes. Badges are supplied by the troop and will be issued during the enrolment ceremony, which should take place between four and six weeks after your son or daughter joins the Colony. Uniform is required for all meetings , and is available from the Scout Shop at the Weir View HQ on Saturday Mornings between 09:30 and 12:00.

Adults: There are a number of adults involved in the running of the Beaver Colony. Each new adult helper is subject to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check before commencing work with the Group. All existing leaders complete a performance review (which includes a repeat of the CRB check) every five years.

Costs: Subscription charges for the Beaver Colony have been set by the Group Executive at £26 per (four month) term and should be paid within 2 weeks of the start of the school term. Please make the payment by cheque payable to "14th Tonbridge Sea Scouts". 70% of the subscription charge is passed to the Group to cover capitation, insurance and upkeep of the group's equipment. The remainder is retained by the Colony and used to subsidise activities. The Group claims Gift Aid on subscriptions. Further information on this scheme is provided separately.

Activities:The Beaver Colony’s activity programme varies significantly from year to year. Our core activities include art and crafts, Beaver Badgework and Staged Activity Badgework.

As members of an RN Recognised Sea Scout Group, our Beaver Scouts normally take part in at least one boat trip per year using the Group's motor boats.
